Travel Grants and Donations
Recognizing the financial burden that conferences place on graduate students as well as un- and under-employed members, the SCMS Board of Directors voted at its Fall 2012 meeting to increase the funds for travel grants and registration fee waivers in
order to encourage such individuals to participate in the 2013 conference in Chicago. To apply for a travel grant and registration waiver. The deadline to apply is Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 5PM CT. In addition to a nearly 100% increase in travel
grant funds, we also hope to award several additional grants through volunteer contributions from SCMS members. Please click here to support graduate students as well as un- or under-employed SCMS members by donating to the
SCMS Travel Grant Fund.
Conference Registration and Fees
To be included in the final printed program, everyone participating in the conference must register, pay the registration fee, and be a member of SCMS by Monday, January 7, 2013 5PM CT. Failure to register and become a member will result in the exclusion
of your name and presentation title from the program.
Conference Registration Fee
- SCMS Member: $135 USD
- SCMS Student Member: $75 USD
Child Care at the Conference
This year, in response to a petition from parents requesting childcare at the conference, we have organized a few childcare options. Working with the Drake Hotel, we have made arrangements with two hotel-approved sitter services: American Child Care and Sitter Studio. Information, including contact numbers, rates, and rules, are available here.In addition, we have set up a forum for parents who may wish to join forces when booking sitters, or swap childcare
amongst themselves, or discuss good child-friendly options (parks, restaurants, zoo, etc.) in Chicago. The forum can be found here (you must be signed in to access the forum). We hope that these options
will help parents have a productive and enjoyable conference in Chicago.
