Indigenous Media Studies Scholars Membership
SCMS is committed to increasing access, equity, and inclusion in the field of media studies. In that spirit, we offer a membership support program designed to reduce barriers for scholars whose work focuses on Indigenous media studies.
In accordance with current federal guidelines, this program is now open to all scholars, regardless of race, color, or national origin, who believe they would benefit from this kind of access, particularly those who have faced structural, institutional, or financial barriers to full participation in our field.
The program includes the following benefits over a two-year period:
- Year One: Eligible scholars joining SCMS for the first time may receive waived membership dues and conference registration fees.
- Year Two: Returning scholars who previously participated in this program may receive waived conference registration fees.
We continue to honor the original intent of this initiative, to create space for scholars from underrepresented and historically excluded communities, while ensuring compliance with current legal requirements.
