Each In Focus section of Cinema Journal has
a companion week at Media Commons’ In Media Res, where authors can
expand on their topics with multimedia extras and invite further
discussion in the comments section. The In Focus on Latin American Film Research is running at IMR this week.

edited by Katherine Groo, this quarterly feature reports recent news highlights
from the media archive community, including: acquisitions, preservation,
institutional and organizational changes, exhibitions, awards, new DVD
releases, online resources, and technology.
Currently edited by Chris Robé with Stephen Charbonneau, this quarterly feature lists recent books published in media studies, as well as articles on film and TV published in non-media journals.
Aca-Media is a monthly podcast that presents an academic perspective on media. Hosts Christine Becker and Michael Kackman explore current scholarship, issues in the media industries, questions in pedagogy and professional development, and events in the world of media studies. The October episode features a Halloween mystery, an interview with Jennifer Hyland Wang about her 2000 CJ piece on Forrest Gump, and a tour of the SCMS Undergraduate Conference.
Cinema Journal and TeachingMedia.org have formed a partnership
to develop a quarterly feature called the Cinema Journal Teaching Dossier.
The goals of this partnership are to foster critical reflection on media
studies teaching and pedagogy and to engender serious discussion of pedagogical
issues via an active online platform. The
current dossier considers teaching research skills.
This collaboration between MediaCommons and Cinema Journal is the first
peer-reviewed academic journal of videographic film and moving image studies.
The third issue explores the form, theorym and practice of audiovisual essays and their scholarly use, including video essays by Cristina Alvarez Lopez, Ian Garwood, Miklos Kiss, and Adrian Martin.
